  1. As promised thoughts on Golums / Wizards.
Key technique for GoWiPe, but then for all sorts of attack styles talked about GoHo, GoLo GoWiWi etc..
from my experience in last few weeks. It takes a while to get right. At first too many things going on, you get the rider wrong, drop in wrong places etc. But worth persevering. Gets easier with practice.

    basic elements are
    1/ Gollums
2/ Wizards to clear buildings behind Gollums and creat a "funnel". Basically a wide enough space devoid of buildings so when you drop the next troops they go into the base rather than wander off around the outside
    3/ Wallbreakers.
4/ Your thug troops, or Kill squad. high damage. And high hit point troops. Always includes BK & if TH9 AQ, but also P.E.K.K.A, Valks, and ynot often uses Giants also.
    5/ Maybe more Wallbreakers
    6/ Rage spell
7/ A few more wizards to follow in behind the Thugs.

Point one you deploy troops in the order above. Why?

first Gollums so defenses target them. Choose 1 or 2. Aim to deploy them so that as many defenses as possible target them. And critically so that any defenses which might target the wizards you drop next, will target the Gollums first.

Second wizards. aim to deploy in as wide an arc as possible. While making sure that they are protected by the Gollums still. If this doesn't make sense I could try to explain better in chat.

then Wallbreakers. usually between Gollums if 2, or to the side if one ( if directly behind the Gollum good chance it will get blasted by wizard towers or mortars targeting the Gollum.

Fourth drop kill squad. usually just behind where walls have been opened.

fifth/sixth. Rage, just ahead of the Kill squad - so they walk into it and maximize time in it.
Drop second set of Wallbreakers to get internal walls straight after. Rage will help make sure they punch through.

Lastly a few more wizards to follow behind the Gollums and Kill squad.

When you start, troops will go of around the outside, you'll drop wizards in the wrong place and they will get shot down straight away etc.etc. Watch your replays and see what didn't work and modify next time, Practice is the key.

Hope this helps/ is of interest. I would be interested in views, changes, alternative strategies.

    Cheers
    Barsh

  3. I have been on my own self imposed drop 2 strategy for wars taken from my Old & Combative sabbatical. However, not sure it works in 10 v 10 wars. Steve usually goes 2, then 1. Should I be calling 3 on my first attack?

  4. I agree does not work on 10 vs 10.
Not sure on best strategy for TH9 on TH9. Past Dingus, 3 stars are rare. If you only aim for 2 star it should be pretty rote for must of us. 3 stars are much harder, though I think in tough wars they make the difference. The downside is failure to get the 3 if you go for it, often means only 1 or zero.
My instinct is first attack we should all aim for base we think we have a good shot at 3 star. I don't think you should be worried about coming down further if needed.
Would be interested in Dingus perspective here though.

  5. I agree - the drop 3 does not make sense in 10 vs 10. I like Ben's suggestion - for the TH9 folks it should be who you think you have the best chance to 3 star from their TH9s.

For me it's always going to be simple as long as we're only facing one TH10. I can pretty much attack any of the TH9 and almost guarantee a 3 star unless i have a brain fart and forget about the builder's hut or if it's a TH9 with max walls and Royals - really haven't seen that yet but your run of the mill TH9 doesn't stand much of a chance.

  6. Another topic while we're chatting......we seem to have some folks on permanent opt out. What's up with that? A mandatory war with everyone at least once every other week/once a month would be fun - also a good way to be picking up more XP.
